The info is ok but – OMG! – the tutor is jerking the cursor back and forth and up n’ down. IT GIVES ME A ROYAL PAIN IN MY EYES to follow that jerking cursor. You need to relax and become a little bit less nervous.
@gregtdude Yes, this was an early video for me. As I add more vids, hopefully my quality will improve!
@superflyUK The menu alias is used when you link to a MENU item rather than an article. Which ever link you create would take precedence.
Hope that helps!
hey Rob! Thanks for the video.
Could you please clarify what is the difference between the alias when creating an article and the alias when adding a menu item? And which one takes precedence? At 4:46 you say that Joomla fills the alias field automatically but I don’t see that in the video.
Would appreciate your help! Thanks!
Sems a lil out of sync here and there but this is a minor niggle for what i think is the best beginner’s tut on youtube to date
@ikalwewe Well, heck, it sure is nice to be loved!!
dear rob i love you you just solved my problem i m too much of a stone age person to figure this out by myself
what is the link for that so i can go to it.
@szoroshun I wouldn’t say it is wrong. The Author, Editor, Publisher roles are exactly as you way but if I am a webmaster who is the only content provider to the website, am I going to utilize that? I think not.
But you are exactly right when it comes to many users.
Reasonable intro to the BACK-END.
While it is possible to create contents from the back end, it is wrong to do so.
The back end is for site management – not content creation.
The proper workflow is:
Author creates the article,
Editor corrects it (spelling, punctuation, grammar)
Publisher checks it (facts, ethics, legalities) then publishes it.
All this is from the FRONT END.
What do you think, why does Joomla! have the Author, Editor and Publisher?
Voice-over is not in sync with video. Makes it very difficult to follow for me.
Thanks for the tutorial. Keep up the good work:-).
For free extensions visit our extensions page. Just type in google:
‘Qlue extensions’
It is, but there is a lot more horsepower to Joomla. I use WordPress all the time, but there are times that it just won’t do what I need. If you are building a simple site, I would stick with WP.
Damn this is so hard to used compared to WordPress. WordPress is so much more automated and user friendly.
great videos! i’m making a website for a school project and was wonder how students can post their comments can you please help me on that for ex- the category is books for sale- than students can post what they have for sale

you’re zoomed in too much and the constant switching from left to right and up and down is really bad to watch. my head is spinning
this is why I love youtube for this exact reason, when I don’t wanna read stuffs in the book just type a topic in the search field and walla!
